day 20 ride day 5 Gap Day 1 to Rockwood PA

Today we are to do 44 miles and have 2 tunnels. We are staying in a bike hostel. 6 girls in one, 6 guys in the other. And the others in a bunkhouse.
    The weather report looks like thunderstorms all day tomorrow. They were talking a little bit about getting a ride instead of riding. But the consensus says we're going to start out and try it at 8:00 in the morning. The trail was so much nicer today. No mud puddles. All hard packed. We could actually look at the scenery and not worry about the treacherous trail. 
 we started out in the fog and about an hour in had about an hour's worth of rain. All right looking good but it brightened up.

 The main room. We stopped at the Dollar general for dinner and breakfast. We have washer and dryer, a microwave and a fridge to share.
   My bike has a squeak unrelated to pedaling. It doesn't happen when you roll either wheel or roll both Wheels unless there's weight on the bike. Dale thinks it's the hub and we stopped in a bike shop and left wood and they believe it's the hub also. We called the bike shop in Pittsburgh and they said they'll take a look at it when we get there. No guarantees they can fix it.

We had a big wind storm last night. I thought the camper would tip over. Today we're going to try to see several parks that are close together. Our first stop was Mount Rushmore.  About 16 miles farther on we found crazy horse. They refused to be a national monument and refused Federal funding because they didn't want to lose artistic control and by that token our national park card wouldn't get us in and we had to pay.     20 Miles farther on we came to Wind Cave NP. Their elevator is closed for renovation so we couldn't go in the cave. day 45 to Las Vegas almost home

I was unmotivated to walk today we met a couple from Las Vegas with a Unity and the boys got to talk gadgets.  We went from hwy 70 to hwy 15, and we'll stay on it all the way home. We stopped in Bever for gas.       We made it to Las Vegas and it's 111 degrees. The ac is holding its own.    We walked over to the casino next door and saw 'inside out 2' engorged ourselves on popcorn.  We got seats in the bar for the light/water show that's supposed to start at 6.  it was cute! From there we wandered around the casino and noticed all the restaurants and shops and didn't need anything. So we just went back to the rig, relaxed had ice cream. Tried to go to sleep early to get an early start home.

day 46 home

It was 87° at 6:00 a.m. I didn't go walking. We just dumped and packed up and left you only only when for home. Nothing really remarkable happened on the way home except that we ended up about 1:30 getting home. Starting laundry unpacking a bit. Did a quick grocery store run and then went to pick up Braun.    To look at him, he's lost a lot of weight. I'm concerned. But he seems healthy. He was licking his left front paw when we brought him home, and he has a sore on his nose. When we picked up his things from Cate's house 2/3 of the food we sent wasn't eaten.  He ate two full bowls of food when we brought him home.  The next day we took him to the groomer and he looks emaciated. He was 65 lb when I dropped him off with Cate and he's 52 lb now. That's almost a quarter of his body weight. We also got Paul in to see his doctor.
